I know most people love onion rings, but sadly most restaurants or ones in stores are not vegan. The traditional onion ring has a breadcrumb breading as well, which is good but a beer batter? Trust me when I say they are NEXT LEVEL! Plus they’re so much easier then setting up a whole dredging station. Plus on national beer day? These are a stunner.

I’m really excited to announce that this recipe is in collaboration with Follow Your Heart! They’re one of my favorite brands, and I’ve gotten so many requests to make more recipes using their products from y’all, since they’re so accessible across the US. The product I used in this recipe is their sriracha vegenaise! It’s so dang good and really sends this recipe over the top!

Here’s what you’ll need to make these babies!

  • 3 yellow onions, sliced into rounds
  • Canola oil for frying
  • 2 ½ bottles beer (we used flat tire)
  • 2-4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • Follow Your Heart Sriracha Vegenaise

You can also use gluten free flour and beer if you need to! You might just need more or less of each ingredient to get the right consistency since its a little different- so keep that in mind!

And here’s how to make them! Trust me they’re so easy.

  1. In a bowl, mix your flour, beer, salt to taste, and Cajun seasoning with a whisk. You want this to be a semi thin pancake batter consistency, so the amount of flour depends on what beer you use!
  2. Slice your onions into rounds and separate the rings. Add them to the beer batter and mix around to coat, let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Heat your canola oil to 375F for deep frying.
  4. Add your onions from the beer batter in batches and cook for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oil and add to a draining rack and season with salt.
  5. Repeat until all onions are fried. Serve with Follow Your Heart Sriracha Vegenaise for dipping!

See I told you, I promise it’s sooooo easy to make & that you’ll fall in love instantly. Like. Super fucking instantly.

But that’s it! Super easy, super delicious, and definitely something amazing to make when you’re in need of a quick snack, or really any time, let’s be honest. Once again, I just want to give a big thanks to Follow Your Heart for sponsoring this recipe and allowing me to share it with y’all! It’s truly delicious. As always, if you make this, make sure to tag me @plvntfood / #plvntfood and tag @followyourheart as well, so we can all see it! Love y’all with my cold little heart.
