Happy National Southern Food Day y’all! I decided to whip up one of my favorite Southern classics to celebrate the day- Shrimp & Grits! Rarely do you ever see these vegan, but they are SO easy to make & I couldn’t not share this recipe with you!

I’m really excited to announce that this recipe is in collaboration with Follow Your Heart! They’re one of my favorite brands, and I’ve gotten so many requests to make more recipes using their products from y’all, since they’re so accessible across the US. The product I used in this recipe is their vegan parmesan shreds! They’re so dang good and really send this recipe over the top!

So let’s get into this recipe! It literally takes 10 minutes or less to cook. Here’s what you’ll need-

  • 1 bag vegan shrimp 
  • 5 slices vegan bacon 
  • 1 tbsp cajun seasoning 
  • 1 tsp garlic powder 
  • Salt to taste 
  • 5 tbsp vegan butter 
  • Instant grits 
  • ½ cup Follow Your Heart parmesan shreds 
  • Cajun hot sauce 
  • Green onions 

And here’s how to make it!

  1. Cook your grits according to package instructions (make 4 servings), and once cooked add in 2 tbsp vegan butter & your parmesan shreds. Stir until melted and well combined. 
  2. Chop your vegan bacon into bits and add them to the remaining butter in a skillet over medium heat, along with your vegan shrimp, cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and salt to taste.  Cook until golden brown. 
  3. Add your grits to a bowl, top with your bacon & shrimp, and add hot sauce and green onion to garnish. 

See I told you, I promise it’s sooooo easy to make & that you’ll fall in love instantly.  Like. Super fucking instantly.
