Happy National I Love Food Day! To celebrate, I wanted to make something that I LOVE… Philly Cheesesteaks! With tofu “beef”, cheese sauce, mayo, and grilled peppers & onions, you really can’t go wrong. This is a super simple recipe to make, so let’s dive right into it!

I’m really excited to announce that this recipe is in collaboration with Follow Your Heart! They’re one of my favorite brands, and I’ve gotten so many requests to make more recipes using their products from y’all, since they’re so accessible across the US. The products I used in this recipe are their Original Vegenaise, & Cheddar Style Shreds. Trust me, they truly make this recipe special.

You’ll want to start out by making your cheese sauce, that way it can just keep warm on the stove while you get everything else prepped. Add your Follow Your Heart Cheddar Shreds & Almond Milk (with salt to taste) into a saucepan over medium heat & whisk until smooth. Start with less almond milk at first and add more as needed, you want this to be a thicker style cheese sauce & not something super runny.

To make the tofu “beef” strips, you’ll need to start by making a marinade. Combine your vegetable broth, soy sauce, vegan Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, & pepper into a bowl and whisk well. Cut your extra firm tofu into really thin strips, and place in the marinade to let sit for at least 10 minutes, up to 30 minutes. Heat a skillet over medium – high heat and add in some cooking oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Add in your tofu strips with all the marinade & allow to cook until the tofu is browned & the liquid has evaporated.

For the peppers onions, slice your green bell peppers & yellow onion into thin strips. Add to a skillet over medium heat with some cooking oil, salt, pepper, and dried oregano. Cook until browned. Once you have everything ready, toast up a hoagie roll or ciabatta roll, smear with some vegenaise, and then add in your tofu, peppers & onions, and allllllll of that delicious cheese sauce.

And that’s it! Super easy, super delicious, and definitely something amazing to make for National I Love Food Day. Once again, I just want to give a big thanks to Follow Your Heart for sponsoring this recipe and allowing me to share it with y’all! It’s truly delicious. As always, if you make this, make sure to tag me @plvntfood / #plvntfood and tag @followyourheart as well, so we can all see it! Love y’all with my cold little heart.
