Jalapeño Popper Turkey Burgers

Now that it’s summer, burgers are what’s on everyones minds, right?  These Jalapeño Popper Turkey Burgers are SO dang good, and are a lot easier to make then you probably think.  Jalapeño Poppers are one of my favorite things, so combining them into a burger is the perfect meal in my opinion.

While we’re here, let’s talk about the “meat” aspect of this quick, shall we?  Because I know a lot of you are probably wondering how something like this can even be plant based, and how to get it.  The Abbot’s Butcher makes the most incredible plant based meats I’ve ever come across. I’m so excited to be working with them, getting to create really fun recipes like this for you guys- and I stand by this brand 100%.  They use whole foods in their products, compared to a lot of their vegan meat competitors, which means this is a vegan meat you can eat on a more regular basis because it’s actually good for you!  On top of being healthy, they really are the closest product I’ve personally ever tried to the real thing.  The texture & taste are beyond spot on, and I really hope you guys all get to give them a try!


First you’ll need to start out by making your patties.  Take 1 turkey burger patty and split it in half, roll each half into a ball and flatten into 2 smaller patties.  Take a spoonful of jalapeño cream cheese and place it in the center of one of the patties.  Top with the other patty and crimp the edges shut carefully to seal it.  Place the patties into a freezer for 10-15 minutes before cooking so they hold together a bit better.


Now we can get started on the roasted jalapeños.  Take your whole fresh jalapeños and slice into strips & de seed.  Toss them with olive oil and salt, and place on a baking tray under a broiler for about 5 minutes, flipping halfway, until slightly charred.

To cook the patties, heat up some olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.  Season with salt, and then add your patties (making sure not to overcrowd the pan).  Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned, and then flip to cook the other side.  Right when you flip the patties, add 2 slices of vegan cheese and cover the pan.  Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side of the burger is browned & the cheese is melted.

To assemble, smear some more jalapeño cream cheese onto both sides of your bun, and add your lettuce and sliced red onion.  Then add your turkey patty and some roasted jalapeño slices.  Top with a bun, and dig in!

Jalapeño Popper Turkey Burgers

These Jalapeño Popper Turkey Burgers are perfect for grilling season & are so beyond delicious.

  • 1 package Abbot's Butcher Turkey Burgers
  • 1 package Kite Hill Jalapeño Cream Cheese
  • 4 fresh jalapeños
  • 1 red onion
  • 4 slices vegan American / cheddar cheese
  • green leaf lettuce
  • 2 hamburger buns
  • 2 tsp pink Himalayan salt
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil


  1. Start by forming your patties.  Take 1 turkey burger patty and split it in half, rolling it into 2 balls, and forming 2 new smaller patties.  Take a spoonful of jalapeño cream cheese, put it in the center of one of the patties, place the other patty on top, and crimp the edges carefully to seal.  Place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before cooking.  

  2. Take your jalapeños and slice them into strips, removing the seeds.  Toss them in olive oil & 1 tsp pink salt, and place onto a baking tray.  Put under your broiler until slightly charred (about 5 minutes)

  3. Season the patties with 1 tsp of pink salt, add 3 tbsp of olive oil to a skillet, and once warm over medium heat, add your patties.  Once they're browned (about 3-4 minutes), flip and let the other side cook.  Right as soon as you flip them, add 2 slices of vegan cheese to each burger, and cover your pan with a lid so the cheese melts while the other side of the burger cooks.  

  4. Take your buns, and smear both sides with more jalapeño cream cheese.  Then add your thinly sliced red onion, and green leaf lettuce.  Add your burger patty & then some slices of roasted jalapeños.  Top with a bun & enjoy!
