Game day is here!  What better thing to bring to Superbowl Sunday than chips & guac?!  It’s super simple to make in a big quantity, and is something everyone will enjoy.  For years, Chipotle has made my favorite guac.  It is super simple, so fresh tasting always, and I’ve wanted to recreate it for a while now.  And you guys… I think I finally did it.  This tastes basically identical to Chipotle’s guac, and trust me when I say I can easily finish this whole bowl.  I’ve also got some tricks up my sleeve to teach you how to keep this from going brown.  Let’s just jump right into it!

For ingredients, you’ll need very few things.  Avocados, red onion, fresh cilantro, jalapeno, lime juice, and salt.  Couldn’t get easier huh?  I like mashing my avocado first with a potato masher, but you could easily whiz them through the food processor before adding in everything else if you want your avocado to have no chunks.  I also like the chunks of onion, cilantro, etc. but if you don’t, just throw this whole mixture into the food processor for a super smooth spread.


To make the guac, start out by mashing your avocados.  Typically you’ll want them relatively smooth, but with some chunks.  But please make this to your liking!  Super chunky, or incredibly smooth is fine by me,  I don’t discriminate with guac!  *Wanna know how to keep your guac from going brown as well? Keep your avocado pits if you plan on keeping this in the fridge!  Avocados don’t turn brown if their pits are near them, so if you wanna make this the night before, just throw two or three pits on top of the guac, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and this bad boy will stay nice and green all day!* . Once your avocado is mashed, finely dice your red onion, jalapeno, and cilantro.  Mix into the avocado, then add your salt & lime juice, and mix until combined.  Like I told you, super simple to make, with really minimal & fresh ingredients- just how I like it!  This is something that is still totally customizable as well.  If you want less or more onions, do it!  Don’t like cilantro?  Add less or leave it out.  Add more lime juice if you want.  The guac possibilities are endless my friends!


To serve, I like putting it in a large bowl with a bunch of corn tortilla chips on the side.  You can totally make your own, but lets be honest, buying them is way easier and cheaper.  We always buy organic corn chips though!  I love topping my guac with extra cilantro (big cilantro fan over here), and some thinly sliced radish to make it look nicer, add some color, and also add a slight crunch to any bites you get with the radish.  I also always serve some extra lime wedges on the side as well, just incase people want a little extra kick.  And like I mentioned above, keeping your avocado pits on top of this until you serve it will help it from going brown!

  • 5 avocados
  • 1/2 red onion
  • juice of 3 limes
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1 tbs salt
  • 3 tbs jalapeno
  • corn tortilla chips


  1. Mash your avocado in a bowl until relatively smooth, but some chunks still remain.
  2. Finely dice your red onion, jalapeno, and cilantro, and add to the bowl of avocado.  Mix until combined.
  3. Add your salt, & lime juice, and mix again until combined.
  4. Serve with chips.
